Opening Summer 15

May 18, 2015

One more summer is closing in… fast. There are moments when everything around you seem to be in summer mode, and you get reminded, the hard way, that your favourite time of the year is just around the corner; what will you be doing? We’ve been there too many times, and understand the need to have all in one place the most interesting facts about our summer destination!

Corfu has a great schedule for #Summer15, so let us help you with everything that will take place on the island on summertime. Kicking off summer 2015 is Corfu’s 10.000 meters run and half-marathon called “Achillion”. On the first Sunday of June (03/06/2015), hundreds of runners will be participating in the island’s biggest running event! For inquires and requests to be part of the volunteers or athletes, please ask our front desk to arrange everything for you.

The Corfu Museum of Asian Art is really proud for the opening of its new permanent exhibition of Japanese Art. Further strengthening its presence as one of the leading Asian Art Museums in Europe, the exhibition allows the visitor to get in touch with some of the best specimens of Asian Art from a civilization which affected all the Asian and Pacific region. The museum will be open every day 08:00-20:00.

The Banknote Museum of the Ionian Bank hosts an exquisite collection of artefacts, official statements and banknotes that showcase the unique status of the Ionian Bank as a Central Bank for the Ionian Islands and its development through the years. Collectables and artefacts from all over the world, as well as the Historic Archives of the Ionian Bank, which are hosted at the British Library of Political and Economic Science του London School of Economics were brought in, making this exhibition, that will be open until December, one of the most thorough and well put in the Museum’s history.

On the 7th and 8th of June the Mantzaros philharmonic company will host a two day conference on “Language-Speech-Music”. While most of it will take part in Greek, the organizers expect participants and speakers from all over the globe. If you want to be one, you can send them a short description of your intended presentation, no more than 300 words, along with your contact numbers at

Last, but certainly not least, is the theatrical play “Romeo and Juliet for two” which after its great success in Athens this winter will do a tour throughout Greece, making a stop at Corfu, on Wednesday, 12/08/2015, at the Mon Repo Theatre. As always our front desk will be able to help you book your tickets, or even recommend more events depending on your tastes.
